Looky Looky at number 5!

Miami Beach painter.
1. The Spot
1570B Alton Road, Miami Beach, 305-532-9122Get the shrimp po’ boy. Get it regular or jerk (if you like it a little spicy). Make sure you get lettuce, tomatoes, remoulade and the combo with the Cajun fries. Every time I eat this sandwich, I get about halfway through and think to myself, “I could eat two of these.” By the last bite, I know that there is no way I could eat two. I guess I’ll just have to train up.
2. Zeke’s Roadhouse
625 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, 305-672-3118 Cheap, good beers and front-row seats at the Lincoln Road freak show. I like going to Zeke’s on Sunday afternoons for a cold San Miguel Light. They have a great selection of beers from all over the world, including my pasty Northern homeland: New Hampshire.
3. Bird Bowl
9275 S.W. 40th St, Miami, 305-221-1221, Birdbowl.com
The right price for a quality bowling experience. Different patterned shoes for left and right feet, neon bowling balls, draft beers, burgers, snacks, pool tables, video games, daily specials. Overall: quality.
4. Jerry’s Artarama
Trail Plaza, 1140 S.W. 67th Ave., Miami, 305-262-0475, Jerrysartarama.com
Jerry’s has a good selection of everything you might need. If they don’t have it, they will gladly order it for you. Ever since they opened earlier this year, they have been offering crazy sales on everything.
5. Artofficial
Miami, Artofficialmusic.net
If you have not seen this band yet, see this band. Musically and lyrically: awesome. High-energy shows with good lyrics and heady arrangements. I always have a great time whenever I see Artofficial.

Art Basel 2009 is right around the corner. Here’s a little something from 2006 to hold you over.
.
“Project: Sky Walkers // Client: Toyota Scion // Project Overview: In 2006, FriendsWithYou opened Art Basel Miami with an event of epic proportions comparable to the Macy’s Day Parade. Toyota Scion commissioned FWY to curate and produce Skywalkers, inflatable procession celebrating the Earth as the newest member of the universal community. Skywalkers featured 18 giant blimps designed by FWY and various artists and included over 300 volunteers, a high school marching band, full event staff, and thousands of attendees. The parade illuminated the skies of Miami’s South Beach, which gained international attention and made the covers of the New York Times online, The Art Newspaper, and The Miami Herald among other publications. Skywalkers represents the magnitude and magic that only FriendsWithYou events can bring to life.”
